Romania lost for the first time in the EURO 2008 preliminaries in a game in which Bulgaria played its cards right. Romanians were modest in their game as the stakes were not high, since Romania is already qualified in the EURO 2008.

Romania’s coach, Victor Piturca declared for the National Romanian Television that Bulgarians played very well unlike the Romanian team. He added that the result should have been a different once, as Romania is qualified in the EURO 2008 preliminaries.

Romanian player Daniel Niculae said that it is better to loose with Bulgaria than to loose a match in the European Championship. He added that Mutu’s absence was felt on the field.

The Romanian supporters however, attacked the television reporters that joined them several times during the trip.

During the break, Romanians attacked the Bulgarian fans, also hitting the police forces. Several people were arrested.
