Romania's annual inflation rate rose to 6.84% in October this year after exceeding the 6% threshold in September, the National Statistics Institute data show on Monday.

In early November, the Central Bank reviewed its inflation forecast for the end of the year as the inflation rate had exceeded the upper threshold of the initial 4%+/- 1 percentage point forecast for the end of the year. Bank officials believe that upward tendency will maintain for yet another several months.

As compared to the previous month, October 2007 witnessed several price boosts for food products, non-food products and services.

National Bank’s governor, Mugur Isarescu announced that the inflation rate would continue to rise due to the price increase in August and September.
