An Italian citizen was shot dead by the President of the Hunters and Fisheries Association in Romania, Virgil Velin, during a hunting party on Monday night, Romanian news channel Realitatea TV informs.

Velin said that the Italian did not remained in the place he was supposed to be in and marched 200 meters, which had him taken for an animal. According to preliminary data, the Italian man, aged 43, was taken for a fox as he was hiding in the 40 centimeter grass.

The hunting party was organized in a forest in the Western part of Romania. Police sources declared that the hunting was legal and the Italian died on the spot.
