Microsoft Romania and the Romanian Police announced the launching of „Child Exploitation Tracking System” (CETS), an application helping to prevent the victimization of minors active online. The application was developed at the request of the Toronto Police, in 2003. The CETS program is part of the security partnership signed by the Romanian Police and Microsoft Romania in 2006.

CETS will employ 50 specialists in Romania. The application is currently running in Canada, UK, Italy, Brazil and Indonesia and is being implemented in Romania, Spain and Chile. France and Portugal are still testing the program.

Romania recorded 9 cases of child pornography in 2006 but the number grew to 15 during the first nine months of 2007.
