Romania's former Finance minister Sebastian Vladescu has been removed from the Finance and Economy ministry, where he's been serving as state secretary for half a year, according to Mediafax.ro website. PM Calin Popescu Tariceanu confirmed the information on Monday, saying he made a decision in this regard last week.

Sebastian Vladescu was appointed state secretary in the Finance Ministry in April 2007.

The latest conflict between Vladescu and Tariceanu concerned the decision to increase the pensions. Vladescu argued for a moderate increase, saying that the move would have a great impact upon the state budget on the long term.

Liberal sources say that leaders within the party had been pushing for Vladescu’s resignation.
