Romanians bought in 2006 much more long-term consumption goods as compared to the similar period the year before, according to the National Statistics Institute. The top buys in this period include telephone subscriptions, vacuum cleaners and stoves. The most impressive boost was reported by phone subscriptions, which rose 30.7% as compared to 2005.

Moreover, Romanians purchased 7.7% more cars than the in 2005.

According to statistics, the number of purchased home appliances also grew last year: the number of purchased vacuum cleaners grew by 11.9% while that of stoves grew by 11.3%.
