The Former head of the Environment Guard, Democrat Silvian Ionescu, announced on Friday that he sued the Government for “turning the institution into a political yard”, Mediafax informs.

Silvian Ionescu claims that the Government adopted on October 10 two documents that transform the Environment Guard into a political institution, against the laws in force for regional development and decisional transparency.

“The future employments in the Guard will be made politically, namely for Liberal and Hungarian Democrat members”, says Ionescu. He also mentioned that the new laws mix pollution issues with bio-diversity problems. Romania is already notified on infringement procedures for not respecting the bio-0diversity actions demanded by the European Union.
