Both chambers of the Romanian Parliament decided on Monday the schedule of debates on the state budget and the welfare plans for 2008. As decided, the Parliament is to start discussing the two bills starting with November 27, immediately after Romania's first European Parliament elections, set for August 25.

By Thursday, October 18, all parliament members will receive the bills in the form submitted by the Government. Amendments can be submitted between October 22 and November 1.

The documents will pas through all the relevant commissions in the Parliament between October 23 and November 5. Once approved, the projects will be sent to the commissions covering the finances, budget and banks. By November 27, the committees will submit the final draft.

However, the Parliament will start debating the project on November 27 to cast the final vote after all amendments have been exhausted.
