Traffic in downtown Bucharest was brought to a halt in Bucharest on Monday as some 300 cabs marched along several of Romania capital's most crowded boulevards for 45 minutes. The march was a protest against how Bucharest City Hall officials understand to apply a law regulating taxi activities.

The march started in the Constitutiei Square at noon and continued to the City Hall headquarters and other key institutions in downtown Bucharest.

Protesting cab drivers said that City Hall officials were misreading the new taxi law in a way that was favoring large companies against the interest of independent taxi drivers given that there was no methodology in place for the application of the law.
