The Italian police is left to deal with thousands of Romanian made shoes initially meant for their policewomen but which were found to be too small, informs Italian daily La Stampa in its Tuesday edition, quoted by AFP.

The leather shoes, ordered for 600,000 euro by the Interior Minister in Rome were destined to give a fresh touch to the uniform of some the 14,750 policewomen in Italy.

However, the bargain resulted in a total disaster as the Italians did not realize that Romanian sizes aren't by far similar to the Italian ones. Thus, when delivered, the shoes turned out to be too small.

A trade unionist told the Italian daily that it was not the first time that the Interior Minister failed to offer quality uniforms to its personnel.
