The Ukrainian representative at the EU, Roman Spek, declared himself indignant at the statement made by Benita Ferrero-Waldner, European Commissioner for Foreign Relations, according to which Brussels won't ratify the visa simplifications procedure for Ukraine as long as Kiev authorities maintain visas for Romanians and Bulgarians.

„It is a matter we already discussed during the EU-Ukraine summit in Kiev. We explained at the time that the decision to expand the non-visa regime on Romania and Ukraine is analyzed by the Ukrainian authorities and will be adopted after all procedures are completed.

In My opinion, EU should respect this", said Spek for Ukrainskaia Pravda.

"EU has no reason to issue an ultimatum for this expanding of the non-visa regime. (...) It is amazing not only the interview offered by Ms. Ferrero-Waldner, but mainly the EU silence about the humiliating practices to refuse visas for Ukrainian citizens", said Spek.
