After a series of modest results with Romanian football team Steaua Bucharest, football legend Gheorghe Hagi resigned on Thursday from his coaching position, radio station InfoPro announced.

Hagi was named coach at Steaua this summer and managed to lead the team to the Champions League groups. Still, the CL games debuted with a failure, Steaua losing 1:2 in front of Slavia Prague.

Hagi will be temporarily replaced by the second coach, Massimo Pedrazzini, who will handle the Saturday game against UTA.

Team owner Gigi Becali announced he will contact the former coach, Cosmin Olaroiu, to ask him return to Steaua. Olaroiu left this summer to coach the Arab team Al Hilal.

Almost all the time when he coached Steaua, Hagi was threatened to be sacked by Gigi Becali, who is also his godfather.
