Austrian oil giant OMV intends to open several oil and gas projects in Kazakhstan, said Austrian Economy Minister Martin Bartenstein, during a meeting with the Kazakh Energy and Resources Minister, Sauat Minbaev.

"Austria is interested in exploring and exploiting new oil and natural gas deposits, collaborating with KazMunaiGaz”, said Bartenstein, according to RBC Daily.

The Austrian official added that "Europe pays an increasing attention to the regional energy policy. We're interested in the projects within the Baku initiative and in developing the Nabucco project, which is one of Europe's priority projects", said Bartenstein.
