The US ambassador to Romania, Nicholas Taubman, along with two America adepts of the genetically modified organisms (GMOs) tried on Tuesday to convince European Union farmers that the EU policy on GMOs is obsolete and that biotechnology plants are just as safe as the conventional ones.

Nicholas Taubman introduced professor Martina Newell-McGloughlin and farmer Curt Raasch, two GMO promoters who tour the world in order to prove the benefits of biotechnologically produced plants

“The European Union is attached to XIXth century technologies and it will only lose because of that. In case the EU develops a rational regulation frame, it would be helpful for a faster development of the technology worldwide”, said Martina Newell-McGloughlin.
