The exclusive distributor of the Mattel-branded Chinese toys in Romania, Omnitoys, demanded the withdrawal of over 700 toys from Romanian stores, after similar products were already withdrawn from the US and other European markets as they were considered dangerous.
The withdrawn toys come from the „Sarge” series of the "Cars" collection, the magnet toys „Polly Pocket” and the „Barbie and Tanner” and „Scooper” accessories.
While the Sarge toys had too much lead in their composition, the “Polly Pocket” were considered as dangerous because of the high risk of being swallowed or inhaled by kids.
The number of already bought toys is still unknown.
