The Romanian PC market grew 58% in Q2 2007, compared to the same period last year. The volume amounts to 147 million USD according to the official data published by researchers at IDC Romania on Thursday.

During H1, the number of sold units reached 165.000 - notebooks registering a 120% increase as compared to the data published last year.

Even though IDC experts estimate that sales for the second quarter of desktop computers were generally not satisfactory, the analysis shows a 23% increase.

Research Analyst at IDC, Calin Mirea says that marketing strategies and the falling prices of the notebook components highly stimulated sales.

In the first quarter of the year, the local PC sales grew by 35% as compared to last year. The total value of the units sold amounts to 180 million USD. For this year, however, IDC estimated to sell more than 800.000 units on the Romanian market.
