The Social Democratic Party (PSD) decided to submit a censure motion against the Liberal government by September 10, PSD head Mircea Geoana officially declared during a press conference on Tuesday.

In case the Parliament will vote the motion and decide the dismissal of the Tariceanu government, the Social Democrats plan to take up several ministerial functions and even that of Premier.

The Social Democratic head says that PM’s chancellery lost the trust of the Romanians and the majority of the political parties. Moreover, in what the PSD is concerned, the government failed to absorb the European funds and to transfer the economic advantages to the population.

Reactions of the political parties

So far, the extremists promised to support the motion while the Conservatives and Democrats did not take any public stand on the issue, arguing that they will do so in the Parliament.

Naturally, the governing Liberals and theier Hungarian Democrat partners are against the motion.
