Five people died and five were reported missing in Bulgaria following torrential rains causing massive floods in northeastern Bulgaria, authorities announced on Tuesday, quoted by Reuters. Four of the victims, all elderly people, were reported in the town of Tsar Kaloian, some 380 km NE of capital Sofia.

The five missing persons, including a mother and her 7-year old child, were also reported there.

A fifth victim - an elderly man from a village near the city of Rousse on the Danube river, drowned on Tuesday morning, it was announced. 20 homes were flooded in the area.

Torrential rain led to massive power cuts and seriously damaged roads in the region, according to Reuters.
