The Renault group started to work on the development of a new generation for its Romania-born Logan model. Carlos Ghosn, head of the Renault - Nissan alliance, considers that the model won't meet any true competition until 2009 or 2010, Reuters informs.

Renault sold some 159,000 Logan units during the first half of the year, 28.6% more than in 2006.

Renault will also start developing a low cost car, currently estimated at 3,000 dollars.
