The Hungarian Democrats (UDMR), a junior member of the governing coalition in Bucharest, plans to propose current Trade minister Iuliu Winkler for the job of IT&C minister, previously held by Zsolt Nagy, party sources said on Monday.

On the other hand, the Hungarian Democrats are looking for a member to fill in the seat of deputy prime-minister formerly occupied by Marko Bela, the president of UDMR.

Suspended Telecom minister Nagy is under investigation in a case of economic espionage and treason. President Traian Basescu suspended him on June 11.

UDMR officials confirm Iuliu Winkler as favorite for the position but argue that no decision has been taken yet. UDMR leader Marko Bela says a decision will be made public on July 26.

However, for the vice-prime minister position, party leaders consider two names: Laszlo Borbely (Development minister) and Attila Korodi (Environment minister).

A third option also seems valid: namely, a completely new name on the political arena since the position offers future political advantages.
