Weather experts in Romania issued a new warning on Monday saying that temperarures are expected to rise in the south of the country in the coming days, while the northern and western parts should expect hail storms.

The National Meteorology Administration warned that the regions of Banat, Oltenia and Muntenia in S, SE Romania as well as much of Dobrogea in SW will face temperatures of over 35 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, June 26. It said that some counties including capital Bucharest will have to bear temperatures as high as 40 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the northern and central parts of the country will report intensifying winds that will occasionally turn to hail storms.

Heat discomfort will remain high as temperatures are not expected to fall below 20 degrees Celsius at night.

International media reports that scorching weather also affects much of the Balkans. According to Greek newspaper Kathimerini, this is expected to be one of the hottest summers in the history of Greece, with temperatures already at record high in June.

And Bulgarian media quoted experts on Monday saying that the hot days of last weeks would be followed by an even hotter end of June.
