The funds the European Union offers Romania and Bulgaria within the post-accession strategy will not decrease, Reuters informs. The European Commission report on Justice will not sanction the two countries through diminishing the allocated funds.

Still, some penalties may be taken into account after an audit scheduled for the following months.

"The report about to be adopted by the European Commission will refer strictly to the Justice system, the problem of corruption and organized crime in Romania and Bulgaria. It will not refer to cutting the European funds", said the EC spokesman Mark Gray.

Gray added that there is a risk for these funds to decrease after the audit that will take place this year, verifying whether the two countries formed the required financial control institutions or not.
