Romanian deputies gave green light to Nokia investments in the region of Cluj, Transylvania on Tuesday a week after one deputy blocked an emergency ordinance that prevented the investment develop as planned. MPs finally approved the ordinance by which the Education Ministry passes to the Cluj District Council the authority over a field where a Nokia plant is due to be built.

Deputy Valeriu Tabara, who opposed the transfer, blocked the ordinance last week.

The Nokia investment plan for Cluj amounts to 200 million euro and is expected to create 15,000 jobs there. It involves a mobile phone factory and a research center.

Democratic MP Valeriu Tabara opposed the ordinance passing control over the future location of the plant. The Democratic Party said it was a “personal vote” and that Tabara did not consult other party representatives, as the group would not have supported such a move.
