US President George W. Bush lost his watch while meeting crowds in Albania, EFE news agency reports, quoting local TV stations. Albanian TV channels broadcast images of the US leader who was left without a watch while greeting the crowds during his trip to the Balkan country. A White House spokesman denied the news, however.

The footage shows Bush shaking hands with Albanian admirers and all of a sudden somebody grips his wrist. The next frame shows him without a watch.

Bush met a group of Albanian businessmen at a cafe in Fushe Kruje on Sunday. Local people formed queues from the early hours of the day to touch the chair Bush sat on during the meeting. And the US President was welcomed by a sea of people eager to welcome him there.

Update: White House denies watch stealing in Albania

After the EFE news agency informed that the US president George W. Bush lost his watch while making a popular crowd-dive in Albania, the White House firmly denied the information.

A clip posted on YouTube shows Bush wearing the watch and, seconds later, the same left hand has no watch at all.

The White House spokesman, Tony Snow, claimed that Bush put his watch in the pocket. An Albanian bodyguard claims he saw an American colleague picking the watch up from the sidewalk.
