The leader of the far-right Greater Romania Party (PRM), Corneliu Vadim Tudor, announced on Friday that he’d bring President Traian Basescu to court over a recent presidential order withdrawing him a key decoration, the “Star of Romania”.

Tudor says it is not right that his reaction to a parliamentary session discussing a report condemning the Romanian communism be sanctioned in such a way.

Basescu ordered a week ago that the “Star of Romania” National Order be withdrawn from Tudor because Tudor failed to comply with a call by the honorary council of the Order to apologize publicly for his and other PRM members’ vehement protest during the presentation of the report condemning the communist regime.

The “Star of Romania” was offered to Tudor by ex-President Ion Iliescu in late 2004.
