"The first American military arrive will be hosted by the Mikhail Kogalniceanu camp at the end of April", said the US ambassador to Bucharest, Nicholas Taubman. In a speech held for NATO's anniversary, the official also discussed Romania's political crisis, warning that a foggy environment may cause a decrease in foreign investments.

During the celebration of the Washington Treaty (1949), the document that born the North-Atlantic Treaty Organization, Taubman spoke about Romania's contribution to the Alliance, but also about the political situation Romania faces.

The official said that the US recognize and appreciate Romania's contribution during the war in Iraq and in other conflicts, as well as in the global war on terror. The withdrawal of Romanian military from Iraq is an issue that has still to be discussed by Romania and the US.
