The “Baneasa - Aurel Vlaicu" airport will close its gates starting on May 10, for about to months, in order to rehabilitate the existing infrastructure. The airport, currently handling most low-cost flight companies, prepares to host all low-cost flights, existing as well as announced.

During the two months of repairs, low-cost companies will land their planes on the Otopeni airport, 10 kilometers farther from Bucharest than Baneasa.

The low-cost travel market in Romania has currently as players Blue Air, MyAir, Wizz Air, SkyEurope and Germanwings, but expects also several European companies, like EasyJet and Ryanair.
