Authorities in Brussels decided to block the allocation of 300,000 euros for hydro and infrastructure projects in Bulgaria, all within PHARE and ISPA programs.

The European commissioners are unhappy with the insufficient control and the poor management of some agencies subordinated to the Bulgarian Environment Ministry.

Specifically, the source of discontent refers to the modernization of water purification stations, as well as the sewage projects for 17 towns, where some two thirds of all Bulgarians crowd into.
