Romania’s trade deficit stood at 1.06 billion euro in January, according to the latest data from the National Statistics Institute-INS. The INS says exports amounted to 6682.6 million RON (1965.4 million euro), with reported imports of 10293.5 million RON (3026.9 million euro).

The trade deficit grew by 423.5 million euro in January 2007 compared to January 2006.

Romania’s main trading partner remains the European Union, accounting for 73.3% of total exports and 71% of total imports.
