Roma leader Madalin Voicu, son of the former glory violinist Ion Voicu, arrived on Friday, along with his mother, in order to hand over his heritage Stradivarius and discuss the commitment conditions with the Culture Minister, Adrian Iorgulescu.

The gesture comes after months of controversy, the Ministry claiming the violin was only offered to Ion Voicu to play, not to own, while Madalin Voicu responded that his father’s heritage includes property certificate for the Stradivarius.

In the end, Madalin Voicu handed over the instrument, asking only for it to bear the “Elder Voicu” name and not be offered to “just anyone”, preferably to a young talent, after a national contest. It seems minister Iorgulescu agreed, but there were no official statements yet.
