About 2,000 public servants were expected to take part in a protest downtown Bucharest on Tuesday at noon saying their salaries were considerably lower than those negotiated nationally in the common collective contract, which does not apply to public servants - 440 RON for employees with intermediate studies and 880 for those with higher education.

They were also calling for a change to the law on the statute of public servants so that they be active in other income-generating activities as any other state employee.

Their Sed Lex trade union said the protest was organized in such a manner to not affect the work of other institutions.
