Romanian director Radu Jude received the jury award for his “The Tube with a Hat” in the international short film section of the Sundance Festival last weekend. It is the first time that a Romanian film is included in the Sundance event, the most important festival for independent movies, founded by Robert Redford in 1981.

The two hits of this year’s edition of the festival are Padre Nuestro, which took the award for best film, and Manda Bala, for best documentary.

Born in 1977, Radu Jude graduated the Film Academy in Bucharest in 2003. He has worked as assistant director for Amen (director-Costa Gavras), “The Death of Mr. Lazarescu) (director - Cristi Puiu) and “Vacuums” (directors - Luke Creswell&Steve McNicholas).
