A Spanish construction company Announced it won a tender involving a 116-million euros contract to build a second bridge over the Danube, between Romania and Bulgaria, Novinite.com informs.

Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas SA made the public announcement in a press release addressed to the Spanish stock market.

The bridge would be 1,971 meters long, between Romanian city of Calafat and Bulgarian Vidin. It would connect the two countries by train and highway as well, as part of the Dresden - Istanbul corridor.

Bulgarian officials didn't confirm the news: "the bidding procedures aren't over yet, but we expect to have a winner before the end of January", said Vesela Gospodinova, deputy Transport Minister in Bulgaria.
