After the European Union warned Romania that its new fiscal provisions and the new tax for the cars' first registration aren't complying with the EU law, a deadline was established for fiscal law modifications.

The Public Finance Ministry and the Environment Ministry organize a common conference on Friday, in order to discuss the "first registration tax", which is applicable for both new and second-hand cars.

According to the 226th article in the European Community's Formation Treaty, the European Commission may apply the necessary procedures in case one of the member states breaks the act, taking it to court.

In case Romania won't adjust its legislation, the EC may begin these procedures and an European Court decision may be adopted in 12-18 months.
