Prime minister Calin Popescu Tariceanu considers the state budget for 2007 as being a responsible calculus, based on Romania’s priorities and development projects. The PM asked the Parliament to support the Budget Law, given the fact that it contains no populist measures.

“The 2007 Budget draft proves that the Government fulfilled this far its commitments in the governance program. We made reforms, some of them radical, but we haven’t failed. Even though we still have to recover the distance to other European countries, we are speeding”, Tariceanu said.

Calin Popescu Tariceanu also said that he desires an internal policy debate full of substance, as it is usual in a democratic system.

“Maybe some expect an accountant to come and address to you and present a series of figures. They are wrong. The budget for 2007 expresses a political vision and gives the development orientation for the second half of the mandate”, said the PM in front of the Parliament.
