Dinel Staicu, owner of the Ceausescu Museum and president of the Oltenia Investment Fund (SIF), along with Ion Popescu, former president of the bankrupt International Bank of Religions (BIR).

Two other employees of the bank, the former “Credit” division manager and the chief of service will be judged in the same case.

The main charge for the bank’s employees is “abuse against person’s interests”. The prosecutors found that between July 1999 and February 2000, the former BIR officials approved the debt ceasing for 106.78 billion ROL and credits worth other 80.5 billion ROL for Dinel Staicu’s companies.

Both the debt ceasing and the credits were approved with disregard to either the law or the bank’s own regulations.
