Romanian PM Calin Popescu Tariceanu announced on Wednesday that earlier today he had a phone conversation with his Spanish counterpart Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, asking him not to apply restrictions for Romanian workers interested in finding jobs in Spain once Romania joins the EU in January next year.

Tariceanu made the statement during a government meeting today. His moves comes eight days after the Spanish Foreign minister had announced that the country planned to allow free access for Romanian and Bulgarian migrant workers two years after the accession. An official decision is yet to be taken.
