The commercial deficit after the first 9 months of 2006 reached 9.6 billion euros, 3 billions more that during the similar period in 2005. According to the National Statistics Institute, both imports and exports seen a significant growth year over year.

The total exports of Romania up to September 30th were 19 billion euros, 16% more than in 2005’s first three quarters. Imports reached 28.7 billion euros, 24.5% more than in 2005.

The good news is that Romania exports for the first time goods of high added value, instead of raw materials and lohn. The European Union remains the main commercial partner, with 67.6% of the export targets, mainly towards Italy, Germany, France, Hungary and UK.
