Ten years have passed since a Romanian football team has entered the most powerful confrontation of football clubs in the world, the Champions League. Tonight, Steaua Bucharest puts an end to that pause with a match against Dinamo Kiev in the Group E of the League.

The match in Ukraine was heralded as easy by Steaua boss Gigi Becali over the past weeks, but as Onlinesport.ro reports, the self confindence of the Romanian businessman tempered down before the team left for one of its most serious confrontation in years.

“This year, we only wan to accumulate expertise”, Becali said prior to his departure for Ukraine.

For his part, Steaua coach Cosmin Olaroiu, quoted by Sport Total, said he understood that his team starts the Group E clashes as an outsider, but said it would not be a disaster if the team lost against Kiev today.

The match will be broadcast in Romania by Pro TV starting 9.45 p.m..
