Romanian Justice minister Monica Macovei requested the High Court prosecutors on Wednesday to launch an incquiry into possible illegal activities related to current or former Ministry employees as it was found that assets valued at some 416.000 RON (cca 150,000 USD) have vanished.

The ministry spokesman told Hotnews.ro that among the most important stuff that disappeared during the period of 1996-004 one can include computers, printers, chairs and even paintings. The minister decided to call for an investigation after the conclusion of a review of assets in the patrimony of the Ministry, a press release says.
