Five people died because of high temperatures in Romania over the past several days, health officials in Bucharest have announced. The news comes as weather forecasts say temperatures of up to 35 degrees Celsius will continue to affect 18 counties across Romania in the coming three days.

The warning was adressed to authorities in the counties of Arad, Bihor, Braila, Bucharest, Buzau, Caras-Severin, Calarasi, Dolj, Galati, Giurgiu, Ialomita, Ilfov, Mehedinti, Olt, Satu Mare, Timisoara, Teleorman, Vrancea.

And Agriculture minister warned forest owners of increasing fire risks due to intense heat, while railway officials warned trains will report significant delays during the period.
