The prosecutors concluded the investigation in the Rompetrol case regarding the oil company’s head Dinu Patriciu and his involvement in alleged embezzlement and stock exchange abuses. The investigation involves also Patriciu's associates Philip Stephenson and Richard Colin Hart.

The two are charged among others with the creation of a criminal group aimed at laundering money from capital market and complicity to embezzlement with serious consequences.

The prosecutors will hear some other persons involved before issuing the charges next week.

On Wednesday, Rompetrol issued a press release that accuses the General Prosecutor’s Office of illegal practices, and requests the GPO to put an end to the disinformation of the press and of the publicity of confidential documents.

The Bucharest Appeals Court ruled to keep Rompetrol head Dinu Patriciu at large for this investigation.
