A Bucharest court will decide next week on a parole request from an ex-deputy who has been sentenced to five years in prison for a huge prejudice at the Romanian Bank for Development.

The magistrates were due to make a decision sooner. They opted to announce it next week as they said they will have to consider a recommendation from the Bucharest prison where Gabriel Bivolaru, an former parliamentarian for the Social Democratic Party - PSD, currently in opposition - is spending his sentence. The recommendation supports Bivolaru’s parole request.

Bivolaru was charged with a 2,200 billion ROL prejudice at the Romanian Bank for Development.
