Romanian Economy and Trade minister Codrut Seres was in Lebanon on Thursday morning at the peak of the offensive launched by the Israeli military against the radical movement Hezbollah, which has already led a full blockade on Lebanon. Seres was visiting the country for talks on economic issues including the establishment of a Romanian-Lebanese joint company.

On Wednesday, Seres met his Lebanese counterpart Sami Hadda and Industry minister Pierre Gemayel to express Romania’s interest in boosting the economic cooperation with the country, according to a press release the Economy Ministry in Bucharest yesterday.

Seres was due to conclude his visit on Friday.

Romanian companies have shown interest in taking part in the reconstruction and development of Lebanon through construction and rehabilitation works in the fields of energy and infrastructure.

Israel imposed a full blockade on the country on Thursday morning after a series of attacks both by Israeli army and the Hezbollah movement throughout the night. The conflict started after the radical Shiite group kidnapped two Israeli troops on Wednesday.
