The United State’s ambassador to Bucharest Nicholas Taubman acted surprised at the Defense minister’s proposal of withdrawing the Romanian troops from Iraq. Taubman said that not all the relevant decision factors in and outside Romania had been consulted, “The Guardian” quoted.

The American ambassador expressed his confidence that Romania would continue to collaborate with the USA in the war against terrorism, including in Iraq.

The Great Britain Embassy stated in a press release that it had not been noticed about the proposal regarding the pull back of the Romanian troops from Iraq, and it was expecting immediate explanations.

"We understand that the decision regarding the withdrawal from Iraq lies with the Supreme Defense Council and that so far no verdict has been given. We have not been let know on this plan and we are awaiting immediate explanations”, said British ambassador to Bucharest, Robin Barnett.
