The Romanian Agriculture minister said that the Farmer program attracted sufficient applications to spend all SAPARD funds and that the farms creation will continue after 2007 on rural development funds.

The SAPARD funds absorption increased significantly lately, as 1900 projects applied for the Farmer programme. Within 2000-2006, Romania submitted projects valued at the total SAPARD sum of 1.4 billion Euros.

The number of projects/month increased from 46 to 167 and their value from 19 million/month to 47. Only in the last 18 moths there were submitted 2,952 projects compared to 1,384 until 2004.

830 projects aim at creating vegetable and animal farms.
