Bucharest-based football team Steaua won the Romanian championship on Wednesday at the end of a day full of surprises, that saw rival Rapid unprecedentedly suspended after a series of five players were removed from the field.

Steaua nailed the victory with a 4-0 on rival turf against FC Vaslui. Meanwhile, in Petrosani, Rapid was facing a hard time against local team Jiul and was eventually suspended after five of its players were removed from the field due to extremely rough plays.

That means Jiul received a default victory of 3-0 against Rapid, ruining its hopes of winning the national championship.

It’s the 23rd time Steaua wins the championship.
