The Romanian agency managing agriculture and rural development funds received funding requests related to the European SAPARD program amounting to 334 million euro in May this year, a record since the program was launched in Romania.

The amount covers a total number of 644 valid requests. EU would cover 196 million euro of the total value of the requests.

According to Romanian officials, private projects have attracted some 80 million euro, while the rest covers infrastructure and veterinary projects.

A total number of 1452 projects have been submitted since the beginning of the year, with a public contribution of 431.62 million euro and a EU contribution of 323.72 million euro.
