The leader of the Romanian Conservative Party Dan Voiculescu announced his withdrawal from the business scene as he intended to fully dedicate to politics. The move is aimed at creating a positive perception among the electorate, according to his own statement on Wednesday.

Voiculescu said he left his businesses, the companies Intact and Grivco, to his daughters, and hoped the public would see him as a former businessman and a current political figure. Voiculescu owned shares in Romanian media, among which the TV channels Antena 1, Antena 3, the daily Jurnalul National and weekly Saptamana Financiara.

This is the second time that Dan Voiculescu announces his withdrawal from the businesses he owned in favor of politics. The first time he kept the shares in his companies.
