Direct foreign investments (DFI) in the first quarter of 2006 reached 1720 mln Euros , up 128 percent compared to Q1 2005, according to provisional data by Romania National Bank (BNR).Last year, DFI topped 750 million Euros, most of it coming from loans from the companies’ headquarters to the Romanian branches.

In 2006, 729 mln Euros comes from the companies’ headquarters, and represent 42 percent of the total DFI volume, 534 is a reinvested volume (31%), and some other 457 million Euros (27 percent) representing shares to capital.

In the first three months of this year, 2924 new companies were registered compared to 2791 last year and the foreign social capital is 297 million euros.
